Buntkicktgut is a non-profit street football club that promotes intercultural relationships via sport to youth from various classes and cultural, social or ethnic backgrounds. On the pitch, race and cultural identity are cast to the wayside. While a lot of the players involved have fled war or other hardships, they now face other uncertainties as they navigate Germany’s immigration system as asylum seekers. Time on the pitch is sacred, and it gives players a moment to escape everyday pressures and be passionate about football.
